Street Machine Drag Challenge 2017

For the 2017 Street Machine Drag Challenge Joel’s Garage Gear is sponsoring Shannon Reeves’ in his 1971 ZD Fairlane.

He is running in the ‘Pacemaker Radial Aspirated’ class with a 411 cubic inch Windsor.

Drag Challenge is a 1600km round trip and you must drive the car that you’re racing. This includes carrying all the tools and parts required along with it. No support vehicles are allowed to follow!

Day 1 – Adelaide

Shannon managed to run a 10.7 second pass on the 1/4 mile in 36° weather!

Day 2 – Mildura

Shannon then drove the car to Mildura arriving at 4am after stopping to help some mates that broke down along the way. At Mildura he managed a 6.5 second pass on the 1/8 mile which was a new personal best for the car!

Day 3 – Swan Hill

Shannon ran a 10.5 second pass on the 1/4 mile at Swan Hill Dragway.

Day 4 – Portland

Unfortunately the ZD is out — Shannon killed a lifter on the way into Ararat. Living the NA life doing 4300rpm at 100kph it said no more! Hopefully we will have some better luck next year.
